We manufacture bespoke Box Sash Windows for the trade, to suit all requirements from new build to restoration of listed properties.

Dating from the 17th century, the traditional Box Sash Window still provides the most elegant form of practical glazing, allowing more light through any set external aperture than other openable systems.

Without detracting in any way from the original traditional style, Box Sash windows can now be made which comply with all current regulations (Parts L & N). Most listed buildings can now have their glazing upgraded from single to double while retaining all the original visual aspects.

Commercial buildings in city centres, such as hotels, which were originally fitted with Box Sashes, can have these replaced with visually identical units that incorporate as well as double glazing, secondary single or double glazing mounted in the same frame and set back by whatever distance is available in the reveal. If the windows are located above ground floor level they can be made to open inwards as a unit, allowing all window cleaning, redecoration or adjustment of weights and cords to be carried out from inside the room.

Adjustable Trickle ventilation, when required, can be incorporated without any external visual impact. In some cases traditional Box Sashes can be brought up to 'Part L' standard without changing the original box. See our page on renovation.

Every window has the benefit of having its’ parts machined by the latest equipment and then being hand assembled by craftsmen. We also produce specialised items that cannot be produced by machine.

We only use timbers sourced from renewable sources and all our off-cuts, shavings and sawdust are burned in special furnaces to provide heating for the factory. Thus we produce no waste as an end product.
